How to use Image Compressor
- 1
Choose one or up to 20 JPG, PNG, or WebP images from your device.
- 2
Apply shared settings to selected images, or adjust individual images separately.
- 3
Compress the queue, compare file sizes, and download individually or together as a ZIP.
Compression depends on the source image. Some files may become larger; try a lower quality setting. JPG output fills transparent areas with white.
When to use this tool
Use the image compressor when one photo or a whole group is too large for an upload, email, or web page. Select images that should share a format and quality, then leave any exceptions unchecked and adjust those cards separately. The compressor re-encodes each image with its saved settings while keeping its pixel dimensions. A smaller file is useful only if the important details remain readable.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
Preparing a photo for an upload
- Start with
- A JPG photo that exceeds a website’s file-size limit.
- What to expect
- Choose JPG or WebP, compress at 80% quality, and compare the actual output size. Reduce quality further if needed; a particular file size is not guaranteed.
Get a better result
- Inspect faces, small text, and detailed edges before downloading. Lower quality can create visible artifacts.
- If the photo has far more pixels than you need, resize it first. Quality settings and pixel dimensions solve different problems.
Common questions
Can I compress a PNG with transparency?
Yes. Choose PNG output to retain transparency and reduce the color palette, or WebP for another transparency-capable format. JPG fills transparent areas with white.
Why did the output get bigger?
An already optimized image can become larger when re-encoded. Try a lower quality or different output format, and keep the original if it is the better result.
Can different images use different settings?
Yes. Shared settings affect only checked images. Uncheck an exception, choose its format and quality on its card, then compress all images using their saved settings.
