How to use Audio Timestamp Maker
- 1
Choose an audio file with a duration of one hour or less.
- 2
Choose the audio language and start automatic timestamp generation.
- 3
Follow the progress bar, review the timestamped transcript, then export TXT, CSV, or JSON.
The speech model downloads on the first run and is then cached by supported browsers. Long recordings can take several minutes. Timestamps and transcription are generated locally and are not embedded into the original audio.
When to use this tool
Use the Audio Timestamp Maker to create a timestamped transcript for a recording up to one hour long. After you start, an in-browser Whisper speech model processes the recording in 30-second parts and reports its progress. The generated sections remain editable, and you can still add a manual marker at the current playback position. Export the finished list for an editor, transcript, description, or project file.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
Marking sections in a podcast
- Start with
- A 42-minute MP3 with an introduction, interview, and closing section.
- What to expect
- Start automatic generation, review the detected speech sections, correct any text if needed, and download the chronological timestamp list.
Get a better result
- Select Hindi or English when you know the language; use auto detect for other languages or mixed recordings.
- Keep labels short and specific. TXT is easy to paste into notes, CSV works well in spreadsheets, and JSON preserves exact seconds for software projects.
Common questions
Does this create timestamps automatically from speech?
Yes. Start generation after selecting the file. The tool transcribes the recording in sections and places each detected section at its audio time. Review the text because automatic speech recognition can make mistakes.
Can I use audio longer than one hour?
This version accepts audio up to 01:00:00. Split a longer recording into parts first, then timestamp each part separately.
Are the timestamps written into my audio file?
No. The original audio is unchanged. The tool exports a separate timestamp list in TXT, CSV, or JSON format.
